Volunteer of the Year
The Ralph and Jo Benton Downtown Volunteer of the Year Award: Phase 2 Electric
This award recognizes those who demonstrate an outstanding display of support for Downtown Kennewick, and whose efforts have directly benefited Downtown Kennewick through acts of Volunteerism.
2021’s honoree stepped up in a big way when the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership needed help in a crunch. During early Fall of 2021, we were made aware that if there were to be any twinkle of Christmas lights in Downtown Kennewick through the holiday season, many repairs would be needed to our electrical components. What started as an assessment to replace plugs escalated into a much larger issue. After reviewing the need for repairs to conduit boxes and plugs across our Downtown District we quickly realized these repairs were not only extensive but expensive as well. Mike Money of Phase 2 Electric recognized the importance and need for this sparkling aesthetic that makes the community so full of cheer, and stepped up to make the resources for repairs available on a tight deadline. HDKP and all our Downtown businesses are incredibly grateful for the work they provided to save Downtown Kennewick’s Holiday Decoration Designs. After 2 months of tedious work, the twinkle and shine was returned to Downtown Kennewick, just in time to send Santa down Kennewick Avenue. In the spirit of Building Community, and doing good for a greater cause, Phase 2 Electric Inkinded this work to HDKP and Downtown Kennewick with over $12,000 in labor completed.
